I am getting more and more walk-in customers that ring the bell (I'm still working from home).
This is of course good news, especially if they're quick upgrade-jobs and easy fixes, but the longer ones involving liquid spill-repair take me a lot of time, and it can be quite distracting having to switch from über-nerd mode back to totally-social mode and back again (especially with the two amazing looking broads walking in today...pffftt still have a hard time getting them out of my head)
It can already be hard to pick up the phone while soldering (at least I got used to that, proven by having a bluetooth-headset practically growing roots in to my ear by now)
I am in the process of building (literally constructing) my own tiny office/lab/reception space inside a giant building with a bunch of other shops/entrepreneurs.
Even now already, I sometimes have problems with maintaining focus or keeping the walkin-customer-interactions short to ensure I can properly concentrate and finish an annoying board.
I am a bit nervous about the thought of having way more walk-in customers with the new officespace, probably just not enough to justify taking on an employee (I am waaaay below the point of having enough funds for that), that will of course be more than welcome, but how do you juggle these two things?
How do you guys do this, do you have certain walk-in hours, or do you do everything by appointment-only, do you have customers wait when you're busy (I do, but not for more than a couple of minutes), or what do you do? all tips are more than welcome!!
