    You're measuring voltage drop in diode mode, so it cant be the figure stated in ohms. Anyway, replace the SMC.

    This is going to suck, its corrosion somewhere. Reflow the SMC with good flux and see what happens.

    I believe it's because they don't have a true customer/client base. If you are relying on ebay for work you pretty much can only differentiate yourself with price. I tried it for two weeks, it was pure headache, not the type of customers i'm after.

    I'm with aprendiz on this one. I've not come across BIOS issues causing this type of problem. I'd even say reflow the SMC with a good flux.

    Have you tried a known good battery ? Is the machine stable with 2 x 2gb ram installed ? You tried known good memory ? Could be bad RAM slots or MCP. Either way its a no fix.

    No, dont replace the resistors. Remove L7260, see which pad the short is on, and the inject power as Smiba has explained.

    On these boards, i start by lightly heating the MCP. If it comes back to life then its time to trash the board.
